Order of the sprint relays
Answered By Mick Grant & John Molvar

Question
What is the order you set up the 4X100 and the 4X400 relay? I know the anchor is the fastest time, but what is the order for the others? Thanks so much for the help, Sky
Answer
Dear Sky, The order really depends on how good your team is. You want to stay competitive which means you may need to run your best runners early. The general practice is 2-3-4-1. In a 4 x 100, I like to put my best baton person 3rd and my worst baton person first depending on how fast they are. If you have a great team, you can go slowest to fastest or fastest to slowest. If I have a really strong relay, I sometimes put my best two runners first and second and get a big lead. Fun first, Coach Mick and John
