I decided some time ago that I wanted to run a half marathon before I graduated high school and I thought the Pittsburgh marathon would be the PERFECT opportunity. However, it falls right in the middle of my track season. How long does it normally take to recover from a half marathon? Would it be ok to run it or would recovery be too long and mess up the last few weeks of my season?
There are a lot of factors. plenty of high school kids do 13 mile training runs during the season. -what kind of shape are you in? -are you "racing" or "running"? For most kids, running a half marathon during the season would be a bad idea.
