Training

Answered By Mick Grant & John Molvar

Question

My daughter is 7. She was the third child first in her age category to finish a 5K run. She ran the entire race. She completed a one mile run this weekend with a time of 6 min 28 secs. How do I put her on the path to success for a future in track and field?

Answer

Let her try a variety of sports and let her run the shortest races possible. I probably wouldn't have her "train" as a runner until at least age 9 and that wouldn't be too much. My rules: 1. Have Fun 2. Stay Healthy
