Eating for Young Runners

Question

I am a non-running parent of an 8 yr old who wants to run. We joined a great group but what should he eat before and after running? He's in the "2 mile" group right now. Thanks!

Answer

You should always focus on a healthy, well balanced diet. You shouldn't have to worry about anything special before or after practice for an 8 year old. Perhaps a banana after practice.
