My first high school xc race is coming up...any tips on how to calm the nerves?
Hey new xc kid, being nervous is good, it means you are alert and ready to go. To calm it down a notch some runners listen to music and sit under a tree a do some deep breathing, or jump in on the team cheer. As you get more experience you'll find out what works for you. Good Luck on race day!
